Some employers may reconsider abortion coverage amid state threats

In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade threats of criminal charges for employers that continue providing abortion coverage could give plenty of other employers pause, Axios reports. A company likely can't get in trouble just for having a policy to cover abortion or associated travel costs, legal experts say. But it's possible the employer could be compelled to share information as part of a criminal investigation, which might not be shielded by the privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
