JOHNSTON, R.I.–Factory Mutual Insurance Co., which does business as FM Global, has opened an insurance office in Hong Kong.

FM Global has had a field engineering operation in Hong Kong for more than a decade, but recently received regulatory approval to open the insurance branch office, the company said in a statement.

The license has been granted to FM Insurance Company Ltd., the international arm of Johnston, R.I.-based FM Global.

FM Global currently provides products and services in more than 100 countries.
