JOHNSTON, R.I.—Factory Mutual Insurance Co. has opened an insurance operations office in Monterrey, Mexico, the insurer announced this week.

The Johnston, R.I.-based insurer, which does business as FM Global, said the Mexican subsidiary will provide loss control services throughout Latin America and will operate as FM Global de Mexico.

“The opening of our Monterrey office is part of our long-term commitment to serving companies operating in the region, will increase our ability to deliver local insurance products in Mexico and will allow us to better deploy loss prevention engineering and claims services in Latin America,” Hector Pliego, head of FM Global de Mexico, said in a statement.
