JOHNSTON, R.I.—Factory Mutual Insurance Co. will expand its West Glocester, R.I., research campus to include a new natural disaster laboratory, the insurer announced Wednesday.
The new lab will be four times the size of the company’s existing natural hazard facility and contain an earthquake-shake table, according to the Johnston, R.I.-based insurer, which does business as FM Global. The $38 million expansion will also include an upgraded fire technology laboratory and a new multimedia center.
The expansion is scheduled for completion in 2009. FM Global formally opened its research campus in 2003.
