LONDON–FM Insurance Co. Ltd. has opened a marine cargo insurance operation in London to offer coverage to companies in the United Kingdom and continental Europe.

The Windsor, England-based insurer said the office will serve existing clients and customers of its parent, Johnston, R.I-based Factory Mutual Insurance Co.–which does business as FM Global–and other subsidiaries of FM Global. In addition, the operation will seek to grow cargo business in Europe.

Nick Holding, senior cargo production underwriter, will manage the unit.

FM Insurance would not disclose how much capacity it would offer through the marine cargo operation.
