NEW JOB TITLE: Atlanta-based chief commercial officer, Charles Taylor Adjusting and Technical Services

PREVIOUS POSITION: Atlanta-based senior vice president, Engle Martin and Associates

INDUSTRY OUTLOOK: Technology and innovation have a strong outlook. The industry has an opportunity to maximize the role and use of technology in many areas of the insurance process, and those that embrace this approach and the opportunities it presents to be innovative will continue to grow and capture market share.

GOALS FOR NEW POSITION: I’m focused on building out the Charles Taylor brand and footprint across the U.S. through continued commercial growth. The U.S. is the largest insurance market in the world, so I look forward to continuing Charles Taylor’s organic growth, further strengthened by strategic acquisitions, like those of Syndicate Claims and SBSA. To achieve this, Charles Taylor must make current and prospective clients more aware of the breadth of the end-to-end insurance services we provide. That in-depth brand awareness is where I hope to see the most progress in the months and years ahead.

CHALLENGES FACING THE INDUSTRY: Nuclear verdicts, demands and regulations are creating challenges for claims departments as well as raising the expense of doing business for many claims professionals. Recruitment and retention also continue to challenge insurers and insurance providers, although this is true across sectors. Building the next generation of insurance executives requires more than just poaching executives. It calls for creating a strong talent pipeline starting in college and university, and employers must make a continued effort to listen to their employees across all levels. Additionally, progress in DE&I in the insurance industry must continue to be a top priority. I’m excited and proud to be a part of a company that understands this.

FIRST EXPERIENCE IN THE INDUSTRY JOB MARKET: I was a sales manager for Allied Insurance.

ADVICE: Find those who will champion you and learn as many areas of the business as you can.

OUTSIDE THE INDUSTRY, A DREAM JOB: I’d like to travel more and enjoy the unseen sights of the world.

COLLEGE MAJOR: I was fortunate to take the entrepreneurial route and opened a business at the age of 22. This provided me an exceptional education in business management and sales and operations, setting me up for the success that followed.

LOOKING FORWARD TO: First, watching the team we are building be successful and grow with the company. Charles Taylor has grown its U.S. presence tremendously in the past few years – so having the opportunity to further guide that is incredibly exciting.

FAVOURITE MEAL: Chicken marsala

BOOK: “Lean In.” I read it five years ago and still refer to it on a regular basis.

HOBBIES: Landscaping, travel and exploring wineries.
