INDUSTRY OUTLOOK: Over the past year, everyone around the globe has witnessed firsthand the importance of risk management and the need for the right kind of insurance. While there will be many continued shocks to the economy due to the slowdown caused by the pandemic, the insurance and risk management industry defines resilience and will continue to be a stable industry.
GOALS FOR NEW POSITION: My primary goals are to spread the word to potential risk management and insurance majors about what the industry has to offer future professionals, to assist in the efforts to diversify the industry, and to assist our remarkable faculty with producing well-prepared business professionals who will continue to perform exceptionally in this industry.
CHALLENGES FACING THE INDUSTRY: Many employers are feeling the effects of the insurance industry talent gap. The Maguire Academy continues to be part of the solution to this ongoing challenge.
FIRST EXPERIENCE IN THE INDUSTRY JOB MARKET: After serving as an assistant district attorney for Philadelphia, I was hired by State Farm Insurance Co. I represented their policyholders who were sued. Other experiences in the industry included coverage counsel, assistant general counsel and complex claims handler for insurers including ACE Insurance Co. (now Chubb).
ADVICE: Newcomers to the industry should recognize that the industry touches on everything and utilizes an endless number of skills. Find something that interests you and dive in. Also, never stop learning and adding to your skillset.
OUTSIDE THE INDUSTRY, A DREAM JOB: Screenwriter
COLLEGE MAJOR: I majored in international relations with a minor in French at the American University in Washington, D.C. I attended law school at University of Pennsylvania. I also completed my Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation from The Institutes and Insurance Training Professional designation from the Society of Insurance Trainers and Educators.
LOOKING FORWARD TO: I am looking forward to the opportunity to have an even greater impact on a university risk management and insurance program. Also, I love working with college students.

HOBBIES: I enjoy creative writing, bike riding and hiking.
