Acute water shortage halts beer production

Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that beer production in northern Mexico will cease as the region reels from historic water shortages due to drought, Drinks International reported. The decision will have financial implications in Mexico, which is the world’s largest exporter of beer, as well as for beer companies, including AB InBev-owned Grupo Modelo and Heineken-owned Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma that have breweries in northern Mexico.
