Brazilian petrochemical firm Braskem SA could face billions of dollars’ worth of claims if a lawsuit launched in the Netherlands by a group of Brazilians is allowed to proceed, Reuters reported. Braskem and its Dutch subsidiary are being sued in a Dutch court over their salt mining operations in Brazil’s Maceio city that allegedly caused tremors leading to sink holes and cracks in the nearby buildings which forced evacuation of over 55,000 people in 2018.
