El Salvador extends state of emergency for another month

The El Salvador government has extended a controversial state of emergency by another month for a fourth time until late August, Yahoo reported citing BBC News. The measures, which were declared in March to combat rampant gang violence, include the curtailment of certain constitutional rights such as the right to assembly and more leeway to the security forces to carry out arrests.
