U.S.-based A.M. Best Co. Inc. said that insurance-linked securities fund managers are pursuing commutation to free trapped capital from the European reinsurance contracts related to possible COVID-19 pandemic losses, Artemis reported. Contract wording in Europe is relatively less precise than in the U.S., allowing for a broader interpretation of coverage which has led to much of the deployable ILS capital still being trapped.
