Major telecom company’s workers go on a strike

Mexican telecommunications company Telmex SA’s 60,000-worker union went on a strike on July 21 in Mexico City after negotiations with the company over contract-related issues failed, Euronews reported citing Reuters. This is the first protest by the company’s employees in almost four decades. Telmex is controlled by Mexican business tycoon Carlos Slim’s family.
