Civil society organizations are demanding full compensation in a $4.5 billion lawsuit against Spanish energy firm Repsol SA and others for a major oil spill in January in Ventanilla, Peru, Andina reported. The Peruvian National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property lawsuit filed the lawsuit in June against the firm, its subsidiary La Pampilla Refinery, insurer Mapfre SA, and the owners of the vessel that transported the fuel.
