Data from the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda showed that local insurers recorded an 18.5% year-on-year increase in aggregate gross written premium to 711.6 billion Ugandan shillings ($185 million) in the first half of the year despite difficult economic environment, The Independent reported. Nonlife insurance premiums surpassed UGX406 billion.
