CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—Federal regulators have been scrutinizing disability insurer UnumProvident Corp. as part of probes into finite reinsurance, the company disclosed Monday in a regulatory filing.
Chattanooga, Tenn.-based UnumProvident in its quarterly 10-Q filing said it received a subpoena March 29 from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission seeking information linked to “certain reinsurance transactions and transactions regarding ‘nontraditional products’ entered into after Jan. 1, 2002.”
UnumProvident is cooperating fully with the SEC in its investigation, it said in the filing.
