Truckers, passenger buses on indefinite strike over soaring fuel rates

Peru’s freight transporters and passenger carriers commenced an indefinite strike on June 27, protesting against the increasing fuel rates that have surged more than 80% in the country in the recent months, Telesur reported citing El Comercio. The country’s freight transport unions are asking the government to implement measures to control soaring fuel prices and also to combat the "unfair" competition from Ecuadorian and Bolivian carriers at the borders.
